Five Places to Daydream About

Belmond La Residencia Mallorca

There is so much going on right now. We’ve cancelled a few trips due to Covid and it has me daydreaming about all the places that I’d like to visit. I’ve been to a few of these dreamy spots before, but just can’t get enough and want to go back. Here’s a short wanderlust post for those of you who also daydream about laying poolside somewhere beautiful and oh so faraway.

1 // Belmond La Residencia Mallorca
This place is on the tip top of my places-to-travel list. I have never been here, but after reading about it in a few travel magazines and seeing photos of this hotel, it’s numero uno. The Belmond is nestled between the Tramuntana Mountains and faces the Mediterranean which accounts for the spectacular views. Local art is abundant throughout the property (very cool) which makes it even more of a unique destination. The spa looks like heaven and overall the property itself is just an absolute dream.

2// The Post Ranch Inn / Big Sur
God bless Big Sur. I would come back here every single year if I could. It’s one of the few places that changed me as a person. That’s deep but true. Carmel-by-the-Sea is also a little slice of heaven and just 25 miles North. Next time we travel here, I would love to stay at the Post Ranch Inn. The Post Ranch is a super luxe retreat located atop cliffs in Big Sur and only has 39 rooms. The views are unreal and the Sierra Mar restaurant is apparently one of the best around. If you’re interested in staying here too, check out Natalie Borton’s post on her trip. She has great photos and tons of good information on where to eat/drink/things to do.

Blackberry Farm
Blackberry Farm

3// Blackberry Mountain / Tennessee
Blackberry Mountain is the sister property to Blackberry Farm and newly opened in 2018. This is the only spot on my list that we can get to by car (~5 hour drive) which makes it super appealing. This place is the epitome of a cozy, luxurious mountain escape. My ideal day here would consist of a day hike, a few hours at the spa and of course a killer dinner at Three Sisters. Book your trip early as these places book super fast—we are day dreaming about a trip here in the fall.

Turks & Caicos

4// The Palms / Turks & Caicos
I’ve been to Turks & Caicos once and cannot wait to go back again. If it weren’t for Covid, we’d be heading here this week with our girls. Hopefully we can get back to Turks & Caicos next Spring, but in the meantime I’ll just day dream about Grace Bay Beach. This beach is one of the most beautiful beaches that I have ever seen. If you haven’t been to Turks and Caicos, I highly recommend it because unlike some places in the Caribbean, these beaches are expansive and beautiful. These photos were taken from our first trip when we stayed at the Gansevoort (it’s now a Wymara). We were really looking forward to staying at The Palms as it’s family friendly and not a huge place—only 72 suites available (we usually enjoy smaller hotels and properties when we travel). Grace Bay Beach also has some of the most beautiful sunsets that I have ever seen.

5// Hotel Il Pellicano / Italy
I took these photos from Ravello and Amalfi in 2009 when I travelled to Italy with my family. It’s been 11 years since I’ve been to Italy and I’m dying to return. It’s near impossible to narrow down one city or place that I would want to visit in Italy, but if I had to pick I would say Hotel Il Pellicano in Porto Ercole. The hotel is located between Pisa and Rome and it’s a total hideaway spot. You can go wine tasting in Tuscany, venture out on a private boat trip—the possibilities are endless here. The views from this hotel are unreal and if you don’t follow them on instagram, head over and follow them right now.
